Another school year done! Teaching might be one of the most rewarding jobs and teaching at EWIS has definitely made an amazing impact on our lives and careers. Teaching Grade 3 last year was a challenging and fun adventure,  supported by a great team and, of course, my students and their families. This year, my Preschool students, with their unlimited energy and pure smiles have also been part of a personal adventure, becoming a mother in October, which I think it’s made me a more understanding and caring teacher… MAKING EVEN HARDER SAYING GOODBYE TO THESE WONDERFUL CHILDREN!

It’s been a year of learning and sharing among teachers, students and parents. I feel so grateful I’ve been able to know you and your children. Our positive communication throughout the school year has helped us to better understand our students, to stop and think about their delicate emotions as children and to teach them more effectively, thinking about their individual needs. We thank all our students’ parents for being so open to share and work together.

Our last day has been full of music, laughter, fun and wonderful hugs…!!! 🙂 º

We think these pictures show how proud we feel of our students and how much we’ve loved spending time together.

I will miss you all (Ms. Roth, Ms. Panha, all our students, families and the EWIS community)

— HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY…  & LIFE 🙂 —

MS. MARTA

This is the first of a series 0f 10 team building activities we’ve planned for this term. In the first activity our preschoolers work in pairs to complete Zoo-phonics’ Timmy Tiger Jigsaw Puzzle  –

Our goal with this series of team building activities: The skills learned from team building are important parts of personal and group development in children. During team building activities, children have the chance to communicate with each other and work towards a common goal. By practicing being an effective team member and team leader, children develop confidence in their own abilities.

We hope you enjoy these pictures taken during the activity. Please, don’t forget to share your comments, ideas, suggestions, thumbs up… !!! 🙂        PS1 @ EWIS wishes you all a happy weekend 😉

2009ParentVisitationLogoDear parents,

Thank you for attending our parent teacher conferences this week! We think they’ve been very positive. Most of you have attended and we’ve been able to talk about your child and share ideas. We are very lucky to have such amazing students and parents at PS1! We are working well together, communicating weekly and doing home-based activities 🙂 All this work can be seen in your child’s positive attitude and progress both at home and at school. This is very rewarding for us as teachers and we hope you are enjoying this project too. Thank you again for participating and being so open to share and collaborate. Have a nice weekend with these wonderful children 😉

This activity has been WONDERFUL in helping to create self-esteem and confidence in these young children. They loved getting to stand up in front of the class and telling about their family trees and family pictures. They liked having the other children ask questions about the pictures and sharing their own thoughts and memories of their pictures. This is one of our HOME-BASED ACTIVITIES as part of our “All About Me and My Family” Unit. THANK YOU for helping your child to create your family tree! We hope you enjoy this pictures, taken during their “presentations” 🙂

Zoo-Phonics, loving letters and sounds!

Posted by msmartaPS1 | Posted in English, Homework & home-based activities, Parent-Teacher, Phonics, School goals, Welcome, Zoo-phonics | Posted on September 10, 2015

At PreSchool1, The Alphabetical Sound is taught with the ZOO-PHONICS CURRICULUM, one letter per week.

We use Zoo-Phonics to teach the sounds and shapes of the entire 26 letters of the alphabet. The secret is the creative Animal Letters and the Body Signals or Movements that go with them!

We then reinforce this instruction with fun games, music and activities. Preschoolers are in constant motion and they love to make noise. So we use what is natural for them and channel it for learning. If they are moving, they have fun and they are processing information through this important movement and sound production.

You can also use and enjoy Zoo-Phonics at home with your child.

Any questions, just let us know! 🙂

This week we are introducing letter D and  “d” sound… “DEEDEE DEER” 🙂
