This activity has been WONDERFUL in helping to create self-esteem and confidence in these young children. They loved getting to stand up in front of the class and telling about their family trees and family pictures. They liked having the other children ask questions about the pictures and sharing their own thoughts and memories of their pictures. This is one of our HOME-BASED ACTIVITIES as part of our “All About Me and My Family” Unit. THANK YOU for helping your child to create your family tree! We hope you enjoy this pictures, taken during their “presentations” 🙂

Dear parents,

HOME-BASED ACTIVITY: Family Tree

Please, help your child to create your family tree using the worksheet we sent home last Tuesday. Most of you have already done it. Thanks for your help! We are planning to do this activity next week. Please, send it back next Tuesday if you haven’t done it yet so your child can do our FAMILY TREE ACTIVITY!

Some examples of how you can do it:

HAPPY  YEAR OF THE MONKEY!!!

2016, CHINESE NEW YEAR

——————————————————————————————————————————————————–

After our Chinese New Year Holiday, we’ve come back full of energy and creativity! The Chinese Zodiac theme has been a great way to end and review our Animals Unit. Our students have enjoyed making monkey crafts representing the year of the monkey! We hope you enjoy this picture of our crafts and a brief introduction to the year of the monkey and to your child’s Chinese Zodiac Sign… We have a wonderful mix of rabbit and dragon children in our class! Each with their own personality, but sharing some of these common traits.

blog3PS1 MONKEY CRAFTS

Monkey is the ninth in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac. The Years of the Monkey include 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028…

THE MONKEY’S PERSONALITY

Monkey years draw their nature from the animal of the year. The Monkey is an intelligent, witty, and inventive animal. They are problem solvers, working with their group while simultaneously demonstrating an independence associated with achievers. The nimble monkey is playful, youthful in nature, and is a joy to watch as they move from activity to activity.

OUR STUDENTS’ CHINESE ZODIAC SIGNS

WE HAVE FRIENDLY RABBITS AND INDEPENDENT DRAGONS IN OUR PS1 CLASS!

YEAR 2011: YEAR OF THE RABBIT

Occupying the 4th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Rabbit symbolizes such character traits as creativity, compassion, and sensitivity. Rabbits are friendly, outgoing and prefer the company of others. They also prefer to avoid conflict. In confrontational situations, Rabbits approach calmly and with consideration for the other party. Rabbits believe strongly in friends and family.

YEAR 2012: YEAR OF THE DRAGON

Occupying the 5th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Dragon is the mightiest of the signs. Dragons symbolize such character traits as dominance and ambition. Dragons prefer to live by their own rules and if left on their own, are usually successful. They’re driven, unafraid of challenges, and willing to take risks. They’re passionate in all they do and they do things in grand fashion.

Dear parents,

Thank you for your collaboration by commenting on your child’s Communication Book. This has been very rewarding and useful to understand your child’s behaviour and specific needs. Most of you have been very supportive and this has been really positive for your child’s educational, social and bilingual progress.

Starting this week, we will communicate via this EDUBLOG. If you have individual questions, you can write your comments on this blog or send us a private e-mail to msmartag3@gmail.com

We would appreciate you continue supporting us and collaborating on our weekly EDUBLOG.

Have a wonderful week!
