Zoo-Phonics, loving letters and sounds!

At PreSchool1, The Alphabetical Sound is taught with the ZOO-PHONICS CURRICULUM, one letter per week.

We use Zoo-Phonics to teach the sounds and shapes of the entire 26 letters of the alphabet. The secret is the creative Animal Letters and the Body Signals or Movements that go with them!

We then reinforce this instruction with fun games, music and activities. Preschoolers are in constant motion and they love to make noise. So we use what is natural for them and channel it for learning. If they are moving, they have fun and they are processing information through this important movement and sound production.

You can also use and enjoy Zoo-Phonics at home with your child.

Communication BOOKS: Parent-Teacher Communication

Dear parents, 

Thank you for your participation by writing comments on our communication books and sharing your ideas and suggestions. We  really appreciate your collaboration. We believe Learning is a family affair. We look forward to getting to know your child and you in a more personal way as we begin this new academic year.

WHY COMMUNICATION BOOKS? 

We are using Communication Books to better communicate with parents. This way we can get to know you and your child in a more personal way and this will result in your child’s best adaptation to school, class and teachers and a positive progress in the second language (English). They will be sent home every Friday in your child’s schoolbag and must be returned on Monday.

IMPORTANCE OF PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

• Parental involvement enhances academic/language performance. The more intensely the parent is involved, the greater chance of success.

• Parental involvement leads to better classroom behavior.

• A parent’s interest/encouragement can affect a child’s attitude towards school, classroom conduct, self-esteem, and motivation.

• Parent’s should stay involved in their children’s education from preschool through high school.

  • Training and resources can help parents get involved.
  • Reading together at home greatly improves reading skills.

Significant involvement most likely develops when schools actively seek out ways for parents to get involved.

• Parental involvement lifts teacher morale.

• Parental involvement benefits both children and parents. Parents will gain a better understanding of school curriculum and activities and communicate better with their children.

• Time constraints are the greatest barrier to parental involvement. The use of a Communication Book will help with time constraints as well as with language barriers. Parents can either write in English or Khmer 🙂
